Yaariyan is a 2014 Hindi coming-of-age romance film starring Himansh Kohli, Rakul Preet Singh and Nicole Faria. The lead actors and director are making their Hindi film debut. The film was produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the aegis of T-Series Super Cassettes Industries.
Due to the favorable response to the YouTube promotional content, the distributor released the film two weeks earlier than expected. The film premiered in 1,200 theaters in India on January 10, 2014. Although the film received poor reviews from critics, it was still a box office hit, earning $550 million on a budget of $100 million.
The shooting started in Mumbai and then continued in Sikkim and Darjeeling. The film was shot at St. Joseph’s School in Darjeeling. A portion of the film was also shot in Cape Town. The scenes for the song “Sunny Sunny” were shot in the Bo-Kaap neighborhood of Cape Town.

The 2017 Hindi crime thriller Mom was written and directed by Girish Kohli. In the film, Sridevi plays a vigilante who vows revenge on her stepdaughter after being sexually assaulted at a party. Pakistani actors Sajal Ali and Adnan Siddiqui star in supporting roles along with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna and Akshaye Khanna. AR Rahman composed the music for the film.
Mom was released in four languages on July 7, 2017 and became an international box office hit, grossing Rs 175.7 crore (US$22 million). The film received critical acclaim and Sridevi’s performance was widely praised. This was Sridevi’s 300th and final major film role before her death on February 24, 2018.

Ek Veer Stree Ki Kahaani is a historical drama from India titled Jhansi Ki Rani, based on the life of Lakshmi Bai, the Rani of Jhansi.
