Acting career

ritika-singh career planningRitika Singh started her acting career in 2013. She was spotted by director Sudha Kongara Prasad in an advertisement for Super Fight League and later auditioned for the lead role in the bilingual film Saala Khadoos (2016) after the producers got in touch through the competition chairman Raj Kundra. The filmmakers wanted a professional boxer to play the role of Madhi, a Marwari girl who grew up in the slums of Chennai. They did not want an actress to play the role of a boxer. That is why they signed Singh. Singh learned the role in the Tamil version of Irudhi Suttru phonetically by writing down the dialogues in Hindi and then translating them into Tamil. The film went on floors in late January 2016 and was produced by the film’s two lead actors, R. Madhavan and Rajkumar Hirani.

Ritika is the first actress to win a National Film Award for a non-dubbing role, and she received a Special Mention Award for her performance in Irudhi Suttru, becoming the first person to win the award at the 63rd National Film Awards. Singh then starred in Manikandan’s Aandavan Kattalai, which was first screened to the public in September 2016. His next film will be Guru (2017), a remake of the Tamil film Irudhi Suttru, which will be released in Telugu. She then starred in the Telugu film Neevevaro (2018) and the horror comedy P. Vasu’s Shivalinga (2017). In 2020, she starred in Oh My Kadavule alongside Ashok Selvan and Vani Bhojan. She plays the female lead.

Vennella said that she had borrowed two million rupees from a gang a few years ago to pay for her father’s heart surgery, but now she could not pay it back. The gang had threatened her family more than once, telling her that if she did not pay off the debt by tomorrow, they would take her away. Kalyan agreed to pay Vennella’s debt because he loved her.
