Adivi Sesh Sunny Chandra is an Indian actor, director and screenwriter who was born on December 17, 1985. He mainly acts in Telugu films. Sesh grew up in Berkeley, California, but was born in Hyderabad.
He made his acting and directorial debut in a feature film, Karma, in 2010. He became a leading actor in Telugu cinema by playing the villain in blockbusters like Ladies and Gentlemen (2015), Dongaata (2015), Kshanam (2016), Ami Thumi (2017), Goodachari (2018), Evaru (2019), Major (2022) and HIT: The Second Case, after playing the villain in Panjaa (2011), Balupu (2013) and Baahubali: The Beginning (2015). Adivi Sesh's Hindi film debut as screenwriter – Major (2021)
The story and screenplay of the Indian biographical action film Major was written by Adivi Sesh and directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka. Sesh plays Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan in the film, which also stars Prakash Raj Sobhita Dhulipala Saiee Manjrekar Revathi Murali Sharma and Anish Kuruvilla. The film is based on the lives of soldiers who died in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. A+S Movies, Sony Pictures International Productions and G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment are the producers of Major.
The film chronicles the personal and professional life of Sandeep Unnikrishnan and was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. The principal shoot lasted from February 2020 to December 2021. The coronavirus pandemic caused delays in the shooting process. The film was shot in more than 75 locations over a period of 120 days with a budget of $320 million.
Major had a limited theatrical premiere in a few towns across India on May 24, 2022, and was subsequently released everywhere on June 3, 2022.
