The Jack-O’-Lantern is the undisputed symbol of Halloween. To make a Jack-O’-Lantern, you obviously need to carve a pumpkin, and Halloween Moments makes that easy. Founded by Daryl Braithwaite, the company sells gloved scrapers for cleaning the inside of pumpkins. Daryl pitched his product on Shark Tank, but no deal was struck. As of 2024, Halloween Moments is valued at $3 million.
Daryl Braithwaite’s Background
Daryl Braithwaite calls himself “Big D.” He studied business marketing at the University of Phoenix and is currently a senior oncology regional manager at Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd.
He is a loving husband and father of four children who are always excited about the holidays. When Halloween rolls around, they love to go to the pumpkin patch and pick out the biggest pumpkin.
But once the kids found what they were looking for, they did their best to avoid the next step: cleaning the inside of the pumpkin. Like most people, they didn’t like the squishy, cold texture.
Create Halloween Time
Big D wanted the pumpkin cleaning process to be a family activity. His kids didn’t like pumpkin residue on their hands. Based on this information, Daryl designed a latex glove with a spatula and serrated aluminum blade attached and named it the “Pumpkin Glove Scraper.”
The product was launched by Halloween Moments in 2021. Daryl raised $850,000 from several partners to launch the product. After a year of operation, they reached $100,000 in sales.
Shark Tank Appearance
Daryl decided Halloween Moments needed more money to expand. He pitched his business on the show’s 14th season, seeking $300,000 for a 10% stake. The $3 million valuation was pretty ambitious, but he did have some sales to fall back on.
He gives a flashy sales pitch, smashing several pumpkins and pouring some pumpkin puree on his head. Daryl is clearly enthusiastic, but forgets some of his lines during the sales pitch. Mr. Fantastic is curious and tries the product.
The sharks were shocked at the amount of money the company had raised and decided it was not a viable business because it was seasonal. Daryl left the tank without receiving any offers, but gained the attention of over 4 million viewers by watching the episode.

After the show aired, Halloween sales spiked. It was perfect timing because Halloween was only a few weeks away when the show aired.
Customers can buy the pumpkin glove scraper set at Walmart stores, Amazon and its website HalloweenMoments.com. The set costs $10 at Walmart and $14.99 on its website because of shipping costs.
The product has 283 reviews on Amazon with a rating of over 4.5 stars. Year-over-year sales increased significantly during Halloween compared to last year. The one negative review highlighted that the glove is only suitable for right-handed people and is not very durable.
The company is currently valued at $3 million. It will be interesting to see how the business develops and what new products are released in the future.
