Vijay Sethupathi was a workaholic. Vijay Sethupathi claims he earned his way through college by taking on a few part-time jobs. While I was a student I worked as an accountant in a fast food restaurant a textile showroom a phone booth and an auditor’s office. My father thought it was strange but he never influenced any of my choices. Sethupathi’s first actual job after graduating from college paid him Rs 3 500 per month as a cement salesman. From 9 am to 7:30 pm I used to work there. Then between eight o’clock and midnight I would man a phone booth. That would give me about 1 200 rupees. I had to provide for my family because my father’s job was not earning enough he explains.
In November 2000 Vijay Sethupathi moved to Dubai in pursuit of a better life and job. It paid about Rs 12 000 and was also an accounting position he claims. Just a few months after his marriage he caught the acting bug while working in the sales division of a friend’s interior design company. I used to be a great model. I was photographed a lot by my brother while I was in Dubai. I envisioned myself as a potential movie star. But there was a problem: I knew nothing about movies. I don’t believe in luck therefore I realized I needed some professional training if I wanted to have any chance of succeeding.
I then learned that Koothu-P-Pattarai [a well-known Tamil theater company in Chennai] provided workshops for budding actors. He was disappointed to discover that they had stopped offering their acting training but an accountant position was open.It paid terribly poorly yet I chose to accept the position without even informing my family. I figured I could watch the performers who would show there and learn Sethupathi explains. I accepted the chance because my kids were still young. When my wife learned she was quite upset and forced me to make a commitment that I would stop. But I persisted and she gave up trying to talk me out of it he adds.
Vijay Sethupathi then performed a street drama on the tsunami in over 50 villages while still in Pattarai. He claims that he shed all my inhibitions and it gave me confidence. I’ve always believed that acting is a natural talent. The idea that actors should realize the craft of acting via their training was one of the first things I overheard them express at Koothu-P-Pattarai.
Vijay Sethupathi started out as a background actor often appearing in movies as the companion of the main character. He also appeared in a number of short films for the Kalaignar TV television program Nalaya Iyakunar as well as various television series including the well-known one Penn which premiered in March 2006.

Thenmerku Paruvakatru is the title of Seenu Ramasamy’s 2010 Tamil-language drama film which was also produced by Shibu Issac. In her 100th film Saranya Ponvannan was awarded Best Actress at the National Film Awards. It stars Vijay Sethupathi and Vasundhra Chiyertra. N. R. Raghunanthan created the soundtrack Chezhiyan shot the movie and Mu. Kasivishwanathan did the editing.
The movie’s music was written by N. R. Raghunanthan a debutante. For the song Kalli Kaattil Vairamuthu got the National Film Award for Best Lyrics. Vairamuthu is responsible for all of the lyrics.
Pizza (2012 film)

Pizza was released on October 19 2012 and it quickly became a huge critical and financial success. Later Pizza was recreated as Whistle (2013) and Pizza in Hindi (2014). The Bengali movie Golpo Holeo Shotti was a remake of Pizza.

Vikram Vedha (2017)

Neo-noir action thriller Vikram Vedha is a 2017 Tamil-language movie that was written and directed by Pushkar-Gayathri and produced by S. Sashikanth under his production company YNOT Studios. Prem Achyuth Kumar Hareesh Peradi and Vivek Prasanna play supporting parts in the movie which also stars R. Madhavan Vijay Sethupathi Shraddha Srinath Kathir and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.
The movie which was based on the Indian folktale Baital Pachisi follows the tale of Vikram a police inspector who sets out to find and murder the gangster Vedha. Vedha tells Vikram three stories after he gives himself up voluntarily which alters how Vikram views good and evil.
The movie won four Filmfare One Vijay and One Norway Tamil Film Festival honors.. Moreover it won an Edison Award three Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards and two Techofes Awards.
Within 24 hours after its debut the teaser trailer had received 10 million views. On June 22 2017 actors Shah Rukh Khan and Sivakarthikeyan uploaded the official trailer to YouTube.
Vikram Vedha was nominated for seven awards at the 65th Filmfare Awards South winning four of them including Best Film (Sashikanth) and Best Supporting Actress (Varalaxmi). Madhavan and Sethupathi were nominated for Best Actor with Sethupathi taking home the prize; Madhavan took home the Critics Award.
In addition Pushkar-Gayathri won for Best Director and Best Male Playback Singer (Anirudh for Yaanji). Super Deluxe (2019)
As a linked movie it centers on four groups of people who all find themselves in unforeseen situations and are about to meet their fate on the same fateful day.
Thiagarajan Kumararaja co-wrote co-produced and directed the 2019 Tamil-language film Super Deluxe. Nalan Kumarasamy Neelan K. Sekar and Mysskin also contributed to the screenplay.

The movie took home five Critics Choice Film Awards including two Edison Awards Best Movie of the Year Best Film Best Director Best Actor and Best Writing.
The film was nominated in four categories at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne which was held on 8 August 2019 and took home two awards: Best Actor (Vijay Sethupathi) and Equality in Cinema (Honorary Award). It was nominated for Best Asian Film at the 9th AACTA Awards. Vijay Sethupathi was honored for his performance in the movie as Best Supporting Actor at the 67th National Film Awards which were given out for Indian movies produced in 2019.
Super Deluxe was a close choice for Oscar Award nomination from India but eventually Gully Boy was the official entry to Oscar from India in 2020.
Vikram (2022 film)

Vijay Sethupathi Fighting at the airport
As a result of his crew being seen fighting a man at the Bangalore airport Vijay Sethupathi has found himself in controversy once more. A picture that was shot three days ago while I was celebrating my birthday is currently the subject of debate. I used a sword to slice my birthday cake in the picture.
