Badlapur
Badlapur is a 2015 Hindi-language neo-noir action thriller film that was produced by Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla under the banners of Maddock Films and Eros International. It was directed by Sriram Raghavan. Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui appear in the movie which is based on the Massimo Carlotto novel Death’s Dark Abyss. Huma Qureshi Yami Gautam Vinay Pathak Divya Dutta and Radhika Apte play supporting roles. The movie premiered on February 20 2015. Badlapur was a commercial success according to Box Office India with global box office receipts of about 81.3 crore (US$10 million). The movie received nominations in several categories including Best Film for the 61st Filmfare Awards on January 11 2016.

A coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama movie in the Hindi language from 2012 Student of the Year was directed by Karan Johar written by Rensil D’Silva and Niranjan Iyengar from Johar’s uncredited story and produced by Gauri Khan and Hiroo Yash Johar under the banners of Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment. Student of the Year which Johar directed but which Shah Rukh Khan did not star in but who still presented and co-produced was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood movies of 2012 when it was released on October 19 2012 across India. It garnered mixed reviews although the three leads’ performances and the soundtrack also received accolades.
Student of the Year 2 a stand-alone sequel directed by Punit Malhotra and starring Tiger Shroff Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey was released on May 10 2019. A special appearance of Alia Bhatt was made in the movie.
Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya
Shashank Khaitan wrote and directed the 2017 Hindi-language romantic comedy Badrinath Ki Dulhania which was made by Dharma Productions. The movie which stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt is considered a spiritual successor to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014). It tells the tale of an aspiring independent air hostess from a small town who defies her chauvinistic fiancé’s demands that she live up to patriarchal ideals. The sequel to the Dulhania film series is called Badrinath Ki Dulhania. In Panvel Singapore and Kota principal photography began in May 2016. On March 10 2017 around the Holi holiday the movie was theatrically released in India. It was an enormous commercial success grossing more than 201 crores globally. It was nominated for 8 Filmfare Awards winning Best Male Playback Singer for Arijit Singh and receiving nominations for Best Film Best Director Best Actor and Best Actress.
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania
The story revolves around Kavya Pratap Singh an Ambala native who is set to get hitched. She meets carefree Delhiite Humpty Sharma when she travels there to purchase for her “dhai lakh ka Ghagra” and falls in love with him. A 2014 Hindi-language romantic comedy film titled Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was written and directed by debutant Shashank Khaitan and was made by Dharma Productions. Varun Dhawan Alia Bhatt and rookie Sidharth Shukla all star in it. On July 11 2014 Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was released in theatres. With a global gross of 119 crores it was a box office hit. In 2017 Badrinath Ki Dulhania a sort of sequel was made available.
ABCD 2
Disney’s ABCD 2 commonly known as Any Body Can Dance 2 is a 2015 Hindi-language dance movie that was produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Walt Disney Pictures and directed and choreographed by Remo D’Souza. The movie a standalone sequel to 2013’s ABCD: Any Body Can Dance stars Prabhu Deva Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles alongside Sushant Pujari. It is inspired in part by the true story of Suresh Mukund and Vernon Monteiro who founded the “fictitious dance crew” The Kings and later won the World Hip Hop Dance Championship in San Diego. Dhawan and Pujari respectively play these characters.
One of only two Disney original musical films in the Indian market ABCD 2 was released by UTV Motion Pictures on June 19 2015 in 3D. Sachin-Jigar composed the soundtrack and background score and Mayur Puri authored the script and lyrics. The backdrop for the dancers’ rehearsal area in the early part of the movie was the decommissioned cruiser INS Vikrant. The screenplay was written by Tushar Hiranandani and D’Souza. ABCD 2 received mixed to excellent reviews. While the writing and length of the film were criticized its production design choreography soundtrack and performances by Deva Dhawan and Kapoor received appreciation.
Jug Jugg Jeeyo
Anurag Singh wrote the story for Raj Mehta’s 2022 Hindi-language family comedy-drama Jug Jugg Jeeyo which was produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios. Neetu Kapoor Anil Kapoor Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani are the movie’s stars. Supporting roles are played by Manish Paul and debutante Prajakta Koli. The movie was presented in theatres on June 24 2022. Critics gave it favorable reviews praising Varun and Anil’s acting in particular. The movie had a worldwide total of 134.11 crores as of July 24 2022 making it one of the highest-grossing Hindi movies of the year.

Amar Kaushik is the director of the upcoming comedy-horror movie Bhediya which will be released in India. Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon are the stars of the Dinesh Vijan-produced film. On November 25 2022 the third chapter of Vijan’s horror-comedy series will be released. Varun Dhawan and his wife fashion designer Natasha Dalal gave $1 300 (1 lakh) to the victims of a devastating fire that occurred in the Arunachal Pradesh districts of Tirap and Longding in April 2021 during the filming season. Pema Khandu the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh also went to the Ziro set. On April 19 2021 the shooting in Arunachal Pradesh was finished. The movie was finished on July 10 2021. Bhediya is a part of the horror comedy universe Dinesh Vijan has created which also includes the movies Stree Roohi and Munjha.
Citadel
Varun is said to be a part of the Citadel universe which is overseen by the Russo Brothers best known for their work on Avengers: Endgame. The series will have several versions set in various parts of the world one of which will be set in India. Raj and DK will direct the India version of the Citadel series and it is expected that Samantha will return following the success of The Family Man for their new show. Varun is also expected to make his OTT debut with this series but confirmation is pending.
Varun and Samantha have both already begun working on getting the toned bodies that Citadel requires. They will begin their martial arts training at the end of August and the show should premiere at the end of September or the beginning of October. The training will last for approximately one month. After finishing up the script’s revisions Raj and DK will begin the casting process for the supporting cast in August.
