Thanks to innovative changes made by the team owner before the 2018-19 season, U Mumba was able to regroup after two defeats and qualify for the playoffs. In the process, U Mumba regained their former dominance, finishing the league with a dominant victory and the biggest point differential of any team. They were eliminated from the playoffs by Uttar Pradesh Udha after failing to perform at their best in crucial matches.
Puneri Paltan and U Mumba compete in the Maharashtra Derby, with U Mumba having won nine of the 15 encounters between the two teams and currently in the driver’s seat. They were eliminated by eventual champions Bengal Warriors in the second semi-final of Season 7 with a score of 35-37.
