Apu's Trilogy also known as Apu's World is a 1959 Bengali drama film produced, written, and directed by Satyajit Ray. The film is based on the second half of Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay's novel Aparajito. Apu's World is the third and final part of Ray's Apu Trilogy, which also includes Aparajito (1955) and Aparajito (1956).
The trilogy tells the story of the early life of a Bengali youth named Apu in early 20th century India. Soumitra Chatterjee plays Apu in Apu's World, while Sharmila Tagore plays Apu's wife Aparna; both actors would later appear in many of Ray's films.
