Ravi Kumar Dahiya started wrestling as a teenager. He won a silver medal in the 55kg freestyle category at the 2015 World Youth Wrestling Championships in El Salvador. In 2017, he sustained an injury that kept him out of the competition for over a year. He was selected to compete in the semi-finals of the tournament. Due to his injury, Ravi had no sponsors and so he ended up having to rely on supporters to help him recover. However, he recovered quickly and did very well. In his comeback year, he won India's only medal – a silver in the 57kg category – at the 2018 World U23 Wrestling Championships in Bucharest. Dahiya was a member of the champion Haryana Hammers, who went undefeated in the 2019 Pro Wrestling League.

Photos show Ravi Dahiya with a deep bite mark on his right bicep after he staged one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the tournament.
