Rahul Chahar’s father is Deshraj Singh Chahar and his mother is Usha Chahar, they belong to a Hindu Jat family. His cousin Deepak Chahar is also an international cricketer. Both of them were groomed by Rahul’s uncle Lokendra Singh Chahar. His other cousin Malti Chahar is an actress.
Profession
On 5 November 2016, Rahul made his debut for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy in the First Division. On 25 February 2017, he made his debut for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy in the First Division A Division.
In February 2017, Rising Pune Supergiant bought Rahul for INR 10 lakh for the 2017 Indian Premier League. On 8 April 2017, he made his Twenty20 debut in the 2017 Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians bought him in the January 2018 IPL auction.
Rahul took 20 wickets in 9 matches and he led Rajasthan in wicket-taking in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In October 2018, he was selected in the India C team for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy.
In August 2019, Rahul was selected in the Indian Green Team’s squad for the 2019-20 Duleep Trophy. Kings XI Punjab bought him at the Indian Premier League 2022 auction in February of the same year.
Rahul was selected in the Indian T20 International (T20I) squad for the West Indies series in July 2019. He made his T20I debut against the West Indies on 6 August 2019. He was named as one of the five substitutes for India’s Test series against England in January 2021. He was selected in the Indian squad the following month ahead of the first Test match.
Rahul was selected in the Indian One-Day International (ODI) squad for the series against Sri Lanka in June 2021. He played his first ODI match for India against Sri Lanka on 23 July 2021. Chahal was selected in the Indian squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021.
