Raghubir Yadav is an Indian actor, music composer, singer and set designer working in Hindi films. He made his screen debut in the film Maasai Sahib playing the eponymous character. He won two international awards for his performance in Maasai Sahib: the International Critics Award at the Venice Film Festival in 1986 and the International Critics Award for Best Actor (Male): Silver Peacock at the 11th International Film Festival of India in 1987. The film also tells the story of a writer and social activist who studied at the National School of Drama in New Delhi until 1977.

Raghubir’s television career began with the lead role of Mungerilal in the 1988 television series Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne. Amaravathi ki Kathayein (1994-1995).Later, he played the role of Haji Nasruddin in the TV series Maulana Nasruddin (also spelled Mulla Nasiruddin) and played the lead role in Chacha Chaudhary. The series is directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and stars Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Sanvikaa, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Ashok Pathak, Faisal Malik and Sunita Rajwar. The series revolves around the life of an engineering graduate who, due to lack of better job opportunities, accepts a job as a secretary for a Panchayat in the fictional village of Phulera in Uttar Pradesh.

He recently sang “Lamh Tera” with Hitesh Sonik in the second episode of Coke Studio @ MTV Season 2. The show aired on MTV India on July 14 and the song was the fifth and last song to be aired. The song is a Madhya Pradesh folk song. In ancient times, it would take days to travel from one place to another. People used to sing to ensure the safety of everyone during the journey. This was called “lum tera” singing. The front member/group of the caravan would sing loudly (lambi ter) and the members/groups behind would sing along to ensure contact. He sang “Bhagan ke Rekhan ki bahangiya” in the movie Issaq. Raghubir once again showcased his skills.
