Indian actor and director Pratap Pothen appeared in around 100 movies and also produced 12 of them. He appeared in Hindi Tamil Telugu and Malayalam movies. He also worked as a film producer and scriptwriter.
Pratap acted with the Madras Players. Pratap was asked to act in the Malayalam movie Aravam by the late director Bharathan because of his admiration for his work in Shaw’s play Androcles and the Lion.As a result of my debut movie for which I received a Filmfare Award I continued to receive assignments and offers.
With A-list heroines he has appeared in numerous films. He is well-known and his family has a sizable estate in Kerala. He has produced plays there and is a member of the prestigious Madras Players.

Pratap attended the Lawrence School at Lovedale in Ooty for his education. At first he was interested in painting but after enrolling in college he began performing in plays with the assistance of his friends and eventually acting overtook painting as his primary interest.
Pratap worked as a copywriter in a Mumbai advertising business after earning his degree from the Madras Christian College. Later he also worked for Hindustan Thomson and Sistas Advertising.

After divorcing Radhika Pratap married Amala Satyanath. The couple has a daughter named Keya. Pratap divorced his second wife Amala in 2012. Pratap has had a successful acting career for many years appearing in over 100 films in several languages. Pratap Pothen’s Movie: Aaravam (1978)
Bharathan directed the 1978 Indian Malayalam movie Aaravam. The lead actors in the movie are Nedumudi Venu Prameela Pratap Pothan KPAC Lalitha Bahadoor and Janardhanan. In this movie the actor Pratap Pothan and the fiddle player-turned-composer Ousepachan were both introduced.
Ashok Kumar was in charge of filming. M. G. Radhakrishnan composed the soundtrack for the movie and Johnson and Ousepachan provided the background music. The plot centers on Marudhu a rural hunter and wanderer and Kaveri his love interest and tea shop owner and how the presence of a circus troupe in the village affects their lives.

Nedumudi Venu Zarina Wahab Prathap Pothan and Ratheesh appear in the Malayalam film written by John Paul Puthusery and directed by Bharathan. This unusual love story in Indian cinema centers on the turbulent relationship between a college student and one of his professors. Nadha Nee Varum Kalocha Kelkkuvan sung by S. Janaki is a classic song from this movie. In Malayalam film history Chamaram is regarded as one of the seminal works.
All accepted theories and moral theories of love were disproved in the film. In addition among young people the movie becomes popular on campuses in the 1980s. The Malayalam film Chamaram is one of the most timeless college films. The location of Chamaram was C.M.S. College.
Vinod a college student develops feelings for Zarina Wahab’s character Indhu who is his lecturer. The romance between the lecturer and her pupil is the central theme of the narrative. Indu and Raviyettan a childhood buddy have a romantic relationship; nevertheless because of several issues he marries another woman.
India experiences shock as a result. She begins to adore her student Vinod at that point. All social and moral laws are broken by them. But at the show’s climax Indhu experiences terrible sorrow once more when Vinod is killed in an accident while celebrating college day. Indhu loses her final chance at love and at life once more. The tragic predicament of a woman who is permanently left alone in her life is the subject of the tale.
Pratap Pothen’s Movie: Vetri Vizha (1989)
The action movie Vetri Vizha was produced in 1989 and directed by Prathap K. Pothen. Kamal Haasan Prabhu Sasikala and Khushbu are the film’s principal actors and Amala makes a cameo appearance. The movie was a hit and ran for 175 days at the box office. It is loosely based on Robert Ludlum’s book The Bourne Identity.

Mani Ratnam co-wrote and directed the 2007 drama film Guru which was made in Hindi. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Madhavan Vidya Balan Roshan Seth Mithun Chakraborty and Abhishek Bachchan also appear. A. R. Rahman wrote the soundtrack and the film’s score. By coincidence Mithun Chakraborty has also appeared in the same-titled Hindi film from 1989 and the Bengali version from 2003.
It was the first Indian movie to get a major worldwide premiere in Canada when Roger Nair presented it on Thursday January 11 2007 at Toronto’s Elgin Theatre. The movie was then released on January 12 2007. The majority of the cast and crew traveled to Toronto Canada for the premiere which Roger Nair Productions hosted after acquiring the rights for Canada. The movie had its world premiere during the 2007 Cannes Film Festival’s Tous Les Cinemas du Monde (World Cinema) section.

The 2010 action-adventure movie Aayirathil Oruvan was written and directed by Selvaraghavan with R. Ravindran serving as producer. Karthi Reemma Sen Andrea Jeremiah and Parthiban all had major roles in the movie. Three protagonists Muthu (Karthi) Lavanya (Andrea Jeremiah) and Anitha (Reemma Sen) are at the center of the story as they set out on a quest to find a lost archaeologist. It is loosely based on the real rise and fall of the Tamil Pandya kingdom and the Tamil Chola dynasty.
Principal photography for the movie began in July 2007 and ran through August 2008; 2 000 extras were used for the shooting in places including Chalakudy Kerala and Jaisalmer Rajasthan. Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad was also used for some of the scenes. The 1965 movie with the same name serves as the inspiration for the name Aayirathil Oruvan. Kola Bhaskar handled the editing and Ramji was in charge of the filming.
The soundtrack album and background music for the movie was written by G. V. Prakash Kumar who took the place of Selvaraghavan’s regular collaborator Yuvan Shankar Raja who he worked with on his past films. The soundtrack was widely praised by critics and was later recognized as the composer’s best piece to date.
Pratap Pothen’s Movie: Ayalum Njanum Thammil (2012)
Lal Jose is the director of the 2012 Indian Malayalam-language medical drama film Ayalum Njanum Thammil. His sons Bobby and Sanjay wrote the screenplay for the movie that Prem Prakash produced. In addition to Prithviraj Sukumaran Pratap Pothen Narain Samvrutha Sunil Rima Kallingal and Remya Nambeesan it also features these actors.
The story of a dedicated senior physician and a careless younger physician is told in Ayalum Njanum Thammil. A clear image of the medical industry is painted through their relationship. Anwar Rasheed and Sophia Paul co-produced the coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama movie in the Malayalam language under the banners of Anwar Rasheed Entertainments and Weekend Blockbusters. The film was written and directed by Anjali Menon. Dulquer Salmaan Nivin Pauly Fahadh Faasil Nazriya Nazim Parvathy Thiruvothu Isha Talwar and Paris Laxmi make up the movie’s ensemble cast.
A cameo is made by Nithya Menen. In keeping with Menon’s recent tendency toward family-centered movies the story centers around three cousins from Kerala who relocate to Bangalore. Positive reviews were given to the movie when it was simultaneously released on May 30 2014 across India in 205 theaters one of the biggest launches for a Malayalam film.
Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim won the Best Actor and Best Actress prizes respectively for the movie along with Anjali Menon for Best Screenplay. Pratap Pothen’s Movie: Uyare (2019)
Written by Bobby & Sanjay produced by the sister trio Shenuga Shegna and Sherga and directed by Manu Ashokan. With Siddique Anarkali Marikar and Prathap Pothen playing supporting parts the movie stars Parvathy Thiruvothu Asif Ali and Tovino Thomas. The narrative centers on Pallavi Raveendran (Parvathy) a student of aviation who survives an acid attack that puts her future in jeopardy. Beginning in November 2018 filming was finished by the end of January 2019.

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has reportedly received a complaint from Malayalam-Tamil actor Jayaram accusing actor and director Prathap Pothen of insulting him and his son Kalidas on Facebook.
Due to his belief that Pratap Pothen’s remarks have confused his supporters and the audience Jayaram has stated that he does not intend to pursue the case through the judicial system and instead wants to work with the Association to find a solution.
In response to Jayaram’s allegation AMMA has urged actor Nedumudi Venu who is friends with Pratap Pothen to handle the matter. After initial discussions with both actors AMMA will take further action.The renowned director and performer sparked a debate in the industry when he referred to Jayaram as an uncultured man without stating his name but by giving the audience enough hints that he was alluding to the Malayalam movie star.
Pratap Pothen later explained why he felt compelled to criticize Jayaram after sharing his thoughts online for several hours.Pothen declared he wants to cast Kalidas Jayaram’s son in a Malayalam film. Pothen learned about Kalidas from the film’s producers and the actor later requested that he phone Kalidas. Later Jayaram stated that he will discuss the subject with his son because he is pleased with the producers.
After three days passed with no response from Jayaram Pothen called him again and was shocked by how Jayaram answered.
Since this was going to be my second Malayalam performance I was patient and waited two days. After three days I called him and he informed me that my son would be busy until October of the next year. I then asked him whether he would like to hear the story and he said that he did not want to collaborate with the previous director Pratap Pothen as posted on his Facebook profile.
