So that got me through the first six and a half months. I took some pictures at that time but didn’t know where to put them or what to do with them.
Where on earth do you start? There was nothing available on the internet and it was not easily accessible. So I used to download the names of production houses and advertising agencies. I sent my photos to hundreds of agencies and banner advertisers; I would go in person.
I marked the areas where people could travel by train, bus or car. I couldn’t afford a taxi at the time. Everything was expensive. It was very expensive to call on a mobile phone. So I used to go to the PCO and call my mom and cry for hours about what happened. It was very scary and terrifying.
But Nimrat didn’t expect that things would soon work out in her favour and she became the face of several advertising campaigns. “My first job was for an Asian Paints ad and I went through 85 auditions before I got the role,” she recalls.
