Biography

Laxmikant Berde was an Indian Marathi film actor who appeared in a number of Marathi and Hindi films. He was well-known for his high-energy slapstick routines. Berde began his career as an employee of the Marathi Sahitya Sangh production company before moving on to play supporting roles in a few Marathi stage plays. In 1983-84 he rose to prominence with the Marathi play Tur Tur.

Aside from Marathi films he was also successful with comedy stage plays such as Shantecha Karta Chalu Aahe and Bighadale Swargache Dwaar. Berde appeared in numerous Bollywood films and received four Filmfare Award nominations for Best Performance in a Comic Role. He appeared in approximately 185 Hindi and Marathi films.
