Karan Mehra (born 10 September 1982) is an Indian television actor, model and fashion designer, best known for playing the lead role of Naitik Singhania in the long-running Indian television series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He is also known for playing the role of Sumit Mishra in Khatmal E Ishq and Do phool ek maali. He was a contestant on Bigg Boss 10 (2016-2017) and is one of the highest-paid actors in the Hindi television industry.

Childhood and education

Mehra was born in Jalandhar, Punjab, to Punjabi parents. He moved to Delhi with his family when he was a child. Mehra graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Delhi and then attended Apeejay School in Noida. He graduated at the top of his class. After high school, Mehra worked as a summer intern at Dominos Pizza.

Later, he appeared briefly in Khatmal E Ishq as Sumit Mishra. Mehra’s new film Basthi Hai Sasthi is about rising to challenges and learning how to cope with reality. He unveiled the film in an interview in 2016 and promoted it on the TV show Saath Nibhana Saathiya. The film was originally scheduled to release in 2017, but the release date has been postponed to 2018. In October 2020, Mehra started shooting for his next Zee Punjabi soap Mawaan Thandiyan Chawan in Chandigarh. In November 2020, he acted in the Jubin Nautiyal-Rochak Kohli song Bewafa Tera Masoom Chehra. He won the STAR Parivaar Award for “Favourite Pati”.

Love Story 2050 is a 2008 Hindi science fiction romance film directed by Hari Bhavega’s son Harman Bhavega and starring Priyanka Chopra. Parts of the film were shot in Adelaide, Australia. The film was originally scheduled to be released on December 21, 2007, but due to heavy post-production work, the release was postponed to July 4, 2008. The film premiered in London on July 2, 2008. The film has many similarities to the 1991 Telugu film Aditya 369; however, while the Telugu film was about time travel and a dark post-apocalyptic future, Love Story 2050 is entirely about time travel to the utopian future city of Mumbai in the year 2050. It is the first utopian time travel film in Bollywood. The film was a commercial and critical failure, with praise for its special effects but criticism for the direction, storyline, and Harman Bhavega’s performance.

Bloody Isshq is a 2013 Bollywood romantic suspense drama film directed by Arup Dutta of Morning Walk fame. Akash, Shilpa Anand and Tripta Parashar star in the film. The film started shooting in November 2011 and is expected to release in 2013. The plot revolves around Natasha, the brazen, unruly, man-eating hotel heiress of Eagle Hotel Group. On her way to a party, she meets with an accident which could have been fatal if not for the presence of Nirvaan Shroff. Nirvaan saves Natasha but his attitude and rude persona turns her off but Nirvaan is not one to be fooled easily. Natasha and Nirvaan start their seduction game with a bet between friends. But what happens next is something Natasha could never have expected. She falls in love with him, not knowing that Nirvaan is married to Radhika who lives in Pattaya. The ending of Bloody Isshq depends on what happens next and what Nirvaan does.
