Kagiso Rabada Cricket

Kagiso Rabada has played for South Africa, South Africa U19, South Africa A, Kent Lions, Delhi Capitals, Joburg Giants, Johannesburg Stars, Manchester Originals, Punjab Kings, Cape Town FC. After South Africa won the first place in the Test series, the most promising player was Kagiso Rabada, a powerful and fast player who often bowled in the 140-150 km/h region. Before the age of 21, Rabada had established himself as a potential attacking leader.

At the 2014 Under-19 World Cup, Rabada shot to fame as South Africa beat Australia 25-6 in the semi-final. Rabada ended up being South Africa’s top wicket-taker as they won their first ever title. Three months later, he was offered a franchise contract by the Lions and by the end of the year, he was a member of the national ODI and Test squads. In Adelaide, he made his T20I debut against Australia.

In early 2015, Rabada showed his prowess in the longer formats of the game. He set a new record for South Africa in a first-class match with 105 runs and 14 runs, breaking Dale Steyn’s record set seven seasons earlier. He finished the year as the third highest wicket-taker in the Sunfoil series. In July and August 2015, he played for all three teams on the tour of Bangladesh and became only the second player to take a hat-trick on his ODI debut. He finished with the best scores among debutants: 16 runs and 6 runs.

Before being invited to tour India, Rabada also played one more Test against New Zealand at home. He, along with Steyn, topped the ODI batsmen’s list with 10 wickets. Due to injuries to Morne Morkel Steyn and Vernon Philander, Rabada had the opportunity to play in three of the four Test matches in the series. He put in a lot of effort on the tough pitches but was often overlooked, but he showed the stamina that a Test bowler should have.

Play

When Rabada played at home against England instead of Steyn and Philander, the pitch there gave him more support. In the last Test match, which South Africa had already lost, Rabada became the youngest South African to take 10 wickets in a match.

He went on to play four more ODIs, two T20 Internationals and three T20 Internationals against Australia and he also captained India’s attack at the T20 World Cup in 2016. His workload has not diminished. Rabada seemed set to play in the IPL after his impressive performance but he decided to sign a one-month contract with the Kent outfit.

Rabada was selected in the South African squad for the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021. On 6 November 2021, in South Africa’s final Test, Rabada became the first South African bowler to take a hat-trick in T20I cricket against England. In January 2022, Rabada played his 50th Test match in the third match of the series against India. In August 2022, Rabada took his first five-wicket haul at home on the second day of the first Test of the series against England, earning him a place in the coveted honours roll. He joins Alan Donald Makhaya Ntini and Vernon Philander as the only other South African bowlers to have accomplished the feat since re-inducting into the squad.
