Janina Gavankar was born on November 29, 1980 in Joliet, Illinois. She is an American musician and a famous actress. Janina Gavankar is also trained as a symphonic percussionist, singer, and musician. At the University of Illinois at Chicago, Janina completed her major in Theatre Performance.

Janina’s mother, Mohra Gavankar, immigrated to the United States from India, originally living in Pune, Maharashtra. She is half Dutch and half Indian, while her father, Peter Ganesh Gavankar, is an architect from Mumbai who came to the United States to pursue graduate studies. While in high school in Illinois, Janina tried out for the front row of the Rockford Bugle Corps and the Phantom Corps Drum and Bugle Corps.

Janina Gavankar is best known for her roles as Aiden Vescio in Star Wars, Luna Garza in True Blood, and Papi in The L Word. Janina Gavankar often appears in Funny or Die shorts. In 2008, Janina Gavankar appeared in the television series NCIS, Stargate Atlantis, My Boys, Grey’s Anatomy, and Factory. Janina Gavankar was nominated for the Asian Excellence Award in 2018. She received the Gravity Summit Award in 2012 for her excellence in social media.

In August 2012, she released the single Waiting for Godot for Janina’s upcoming EP. In support of the Best Buddies charity, Janina Gavankar performed a percussion duet with Questlove at Carnegie Hall on May 20, 2015.
