Elon Musk is a businessman who is the owner of companies like Paypal Tesla Twitter Space X The Boring Company Neuralinks etc. Business tycoon and investor Elon Musk is from California. Elon Musk was born on 28 June 1971. Elon Musk’s age is 51 Years as of 2022.  Elon Musk’s real name is Elon Reeve Musk. He founded The Boring Company co-founded Neuralink and OpenAI and served as president of the Musk Foundation. He was the founder CEO and chief engineer of SpaceX served as an angel investor CEO and product architect of Tesla Inc. and is the owner of Twitter Inc. 

As of October 26 2022 Elon Musk has an estimated net worth of over $210 billion. According to both the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and Forbes’ real-time billionaires list Elon Musk is the richest person on earth.

Particularly on Twitter Elon Musk has advocated dividing viewpoints on politics and many technologies. Additionally he has come under fire for making unscientific claims and propagating false information concerning the COVID-19 epidemic. In 2018 Musk was sued by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for tweeting that he had raised money for a private acquisition of Tesla which the SEC deemed to be false and misleading. He reached a settlement with the SEC without expressing regret and temporarily resigned as chairman of Tesla. In 2019 he prevailed in a slander lawsuit brought by a British cave diver who had provided guidance for the Tham Luang cave rescue.

Family

Elon Reeve Musk was born on June 28 1971 in Pretoria South Africa and baptised into the Anglican church. Elon Musk is descended from Pennsylvania Dutch and British people. Elon Musk’s mother is Maye Musk a model and nutritionist who was born in Saskatchewan Canada and brought up in South Africa. Elon Musk’s father is Errol Musk.  Errol Musk is a half-owner of an emerald mine in Zambia close to Lake Tanganyika. He is a South African electromechanical engineer pilot sailor consultant and real estate developer. Elon Musk’s younger brother is Kimbal Musk. Elon Musk’s sister is Tosca Musk.

When Elon Musk was younger his family was rich. Errol Musk was elected to the Pretoria City Council as a member of the anti-apartheid Progressive Party.  Joshua Haldeman Elon Musk’s maternal grandpa was a daring American-born Canadian who flew his family to Australia and Africa in a single-engine Bellanca airplane breaking records in the world. Education

Elon Musk attended the Pretoria Boys High School Bryanston High School and Waterkloof House Preparatory School before graduating. Musk who was born in Canada applied for a Canadian passport through his mother figuring that it would be simpler to enter the country through this route. He spent five months studying at the University of Pretoria while his application was being processed which allowed him to escape having to serve in the South African Defence Force. Musk entered Canada in June 1989 and spent a year in Saskatchewan living with a second cousin while working various jobs at a farm and a timber plant. He enrolled at Kingston Ontario’s Queen’s University in 1990.

At the energy storage startup Pinnacle Research Institute where they looked into electrolytic ultracapacitors[failed verification] for energy storage and at the Palo Alto-based startup Rocket Science Games Musk worked as an intern twice in Silicon Valley in 1994. Justine Wilson

Elon Musk’s first wife was Justine Wilson. The couple wed in 2000 after meeting while both were students at Queen’s University. The couple divorced in 2008 after having six children together. The divorce was contentious and Wilson revealed marital secrets in an essay he published.

While attending Queen’s University in Ontario Canada Musk first married Canadian Justine Wilson; they were married in 2000.  In 2002 their first child passed away from sudden infant death syndrome at the age of 10 weeks. Following his death the couple decided to use IVF to start a new family. 

They had twins in 2004 and triplets in 2006.  The couple divorced in 2008 and they shared custody of their children.

Talulah Riley

Soon after parting ways with Wilson Musk started seeing Talulah Riley an actress from Pride & Prejudice. Musk started dating English actress Talulah Riley in 2008. Two years later they were wed in Scotland’s Dornoch Cathedral.  

2010 saw their marriage and 2014 saw their divorce. However their relationship did not terminate because of this. Musk and Riley got wedded again in 2015 and then divorced again in 2016. Riley claims that the marriage was a happy one and that she and Musk are still friendly.

Amber Heard

Late in 2016 Musk started dating the actress Amber Heard. In 2017 the couple made their relationship known but they broke up in 2018. The former couple cited timing and distance as the main causes of their split and Musk admitted in an interview that he was deeply in love with Heard and finding the split difficult.

Then in 2017 Musk dated Amber Heard for a number of months he had apparently been after her since 2012. Johnny Depp later charged Musk with having an affair with Heard while she was still legally wed to Depp. Both Musk and Heard denied the affair.

Grimes

Elon Musk and musician Grimes began dating in May 2018 and made their red carpet debut the following month. The couple briefly separated before getting back together and announcing Grimes’ pregnancy in January 2020. 

In September 2021 they broke up once more yet remained bound to one another. Although Grimes called their relationship fluid she pointed out that Musk was officially her boyfriend. In 2022 Grimes and Musk disclosed that they had given birth to another child together through surrogate three months before. Unfortunately the former couple stated that they had broken up once more this time apparently permanently in March 2022.

Shivon Zilis

In 2021 Musk and Shivon Zilis a senior executive at Musk’s business Neuralink had twins. The couple’s relationship was previously secret to the public; however their two children recently adopted Musk’s last name.

Natasha Bassett

Natasha Bassett an Elvis performer and Elon Musk are allegedly dating right now. In February 2022 Elon Musk and Natasha Bassett were first seen together and according to insiders they were a monogamous couple. They have both been frequently seen together and Musk and Bassett even attended a showing of Elvis in France together despite neither of them having officially declared their relationship.

Charity Work

Elon Musk is the head of the Musk Foundation whose stated goals are to support science and engineering education support research development and advocacy efforts (for areas like human space exploration paediatrics renewable energy and safe artificial intelligence) and provide solar-powered energy systems in disaster areas. 

The foundation has given more than 350 times since 2002. About half went to NGOs that support scientific research or education. The Wikimedia Foundation his alma mater University of Pennsylvania and his brother Kimbal’s Big Green are notable recipients. In 2012 Elon Musk signed the Giving Pledge promising to leave the bulk of his wealth to philanthropic organisations either now or in the future. At the X Prize Foundation he has endowed prizes including one for $100 million for more advanced carbon capture technologies.

The comparatively tiny amount of wealth provided has drawn criticism for the charity. Because Musk donated less than 1% of his total assets Forbes gave him a philanthropy score of 1 in 2020.  Musk donated $5.7 billion worth of Tesla shares to charity in November 2021; however Fortune magazine noted that no nonprofits subsequently announced receiving any money from Musk despite the fact that Musk’s regulatory filing from November 2021 claimed he had set aside $5.7 billion worth of his Tesla shares for charity.

OpenAI

Elon Musk established the nonprofit artificial intelligence (AI) research organisation OpenAI in 2015 with the goal of creating a safe and helpful artificial general intelligence. The company’s mission is to democratise superintelligence systems in opposition to companies and governments. Elon Musk resigned from the OpenAI board in 2018 to avoid potential future conflicts with his position as CEO of Tesla which was becoming more and more involved in AI with Tesla Autopilot. Since then OpenAI has made tremendous strides in machine learning creating neural networks like GPT-3 (which generates text that resembles human speech) and DALL-E. (generating digital images from natural language descriptions)

Zip2

Greg Kouri Elon Musk and his brother Kimbal launched Zip2 in 1995. The business created an online city guide complete with maps driving instructions and yellow pages and promoted it to media. They laboured in a modest rented office in Palo Alto where Elon Musk would code the website every evening. Finally Zip2 was able to secure deals with the Chicago Tribune and the New York Times. The brothers convinced the board of directors to reject a combination with CitySearch Musk’s attempts to take over as CEO however were rebuffed. In February 1999 Compaq purchased Zip2 for $307 million cash. Elon Musk was paid $22 million for his 7% stake. 

X.com and Paypal

Elon Musk later co-founded the Internet financial services and email payment business X.com in 1999. Over 200 000 members joined X.com one of the first federally insured online banks after the company’s first few months of existence. Despite the fact that Musk founded the business investors thought he lacked experience and before the end of the year Bill Harris the CEO of Intuit had taken over.

To minimize rivalry X.com and online bank Confinity merged in 2000. PayPal a money-transfer service offered by Confinity was more widely used than X.com’s offering therefore. Elon Musk then made a comeback as the combined company’s CEO. His preference for Microsoft over Unix-based software sparked conflict among the staff which ultimately led to the resignation of Confinity’s founder Peter Thiel.

Space X

The team went to Russia in February 2002 along with Mike Griffin president of In-Q-Tel to search for three ICBMs. In a subsequent meeting with Kosmotras they were presented with a $8 million bid for one rocket which Elon Musk turned down. Instead he made the decision to found a business that would produce inexpensive rockets. Elon Musk launched SpaceX in May 2002 with $100 million of his own money and rose to the positions of CEO and Chief Engineer. 

In 2006 SpaceX attempted to launch the Falcon 1 rocket for the first time. Despite the rocket’s failure to enter Earth orbit NASA Administrator (and former SpaceX consultant. Mike Griffin later that year gave it a contract for the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program. In 2008 SpaceX was successful in putting Falcon 1 into orbit.  After the Space Shuttle was retired in 2011 SpaceX secured a $1.6 billion Commercial Resupply Services contract from NASA for 12 missions of its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station. This contract replaced the Space Shuttle.

A commercial spaceship docked with the ISS for the first time in 2012 when the Dragon craft did so. In 2018 SpaceX launched the Falcon Heavy with Musk’s own Tesla Roadster serving as a mock payload for the first flight. The Falcon 9 and the Falcon Heavy are to be replaced by SpaceX’s Starship a fully reusable super-heavy-lift launch vehicle which has been under development since 2019. By launching Demo-2 in 2020 SpaceX became the first private firm to fly astronauts into orbit and dock a crewed spaceship with the International Space Station.

Starlink

The first two prototype satellites for the Starlink constellation of low-Earth-orbit satellites to provide satellite Internet connectivity were launched in February 2018 by SpaceX which started developing the constellation in 2015. 

In May 2019 when the first 60 operational satellites were launched a second set of test satellites and the first significant deployment of a portion of the constellation took place. According to SpaceX the design construction and constellation deployment project will cost around $10 billion in total.

Neuralink

With a $100 million investment Elon Musk co-founded the neurotechnology startup company Neuralink in 2016. By developing inside-the-brain gadgets that enable the brain’s fusion with technology Neuralink wants to fuse the human brain with artificial intelligence (AI). Such technology might improve memory or enable software communication between gadgets. The business also plans to create tools for the treatment of neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s disease dementia and spinal cord injuries.

Clinical studies would commence by the end of the year Neuralink declared in 2022. A study published in October 2019 that describes some of the Neuralink team’s research has Musk labeled as the only author   however the researchers on the Neuralink team were upset by this.

The Boring Company

Musk established The Boring Company in 2017 to build tunnels and unveiled ideas for specialised underground high-occupancy cars that could go up to 150 mph and avoid above-ground traffic in big cities. 

Early in 2017 the business started talking to regulatory organizations and started building a test trench on the property of SpaceX’s offices that was 30 feet (9.1 meters) broad 50 feet (15 meters) long and 15 feet (4.6 meters) deep because that required no permissions.  2018 saw the media launch of the less-than-two-mile-long Los Angeles tunnel. It was said to be a bumpy ride while moving at less-than-ideal speeds and utilized Tesla Model Xs. Early in 2021 a tunnel under the Las Vegas Convention Center was finished.  The tunnel system has been given permission for additional extensions by local authority. Fort Lauderdale Florida received approval for tunnel construction in 2021.

Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded Tesla Inc.—originally Tesla Motors—in 2003 providing capital up until the Series A round of investment. Prior to Musk’s engagement both men actively participated in the company’s early development. Elon Musk oversaw the Series A round of financing in February 2004; he contributed $6.5 million becoming the company’s majority owner and was elected chairman of the board.  Musk participated actively in the business and was in charge of the Roadster’s product design although he was only peripherally involved in day-to-day management.

In 2008 Tesla produced the Roadster the company’s first electric sports automobile. It was the first serially produced all-electric automobile to employ lithium-ion battery cells selling roughly 2 500 cars. The Model 3 was the first electric vehicle to sell 1 million units globally becoming the all-time best-selling plug-in electric vehicle in June 2021.

Tesla stock has increased dramatically since its initial public offering in 2010 and it entered the S&P 500 later that year. In summer 2020 Tesla became the most valuable automaker. It became the sixth firm in American history to surpass a $1 trillion market valuation in October 2021.

Tesla Energy and SolarCity

Lyndon and Peter Rive Musk’s cousins created SolarCity in 2006 with Musk’s initial idea and financial backing.  The second-largest supplier of solar power systems in the US by 2013 was SolarCity.  In 2014 Musk pushed the concept of SolarCity constructing a state-of-the-art production facility in Buffalo New York that would be three times larger than the country’s largest solar farm. 

The factory’s construction began in 2014 and was finished in 2017. Up until the beginning of 2020 it was a joint venture with Panasonic. In 2016 Tesla paid over $2 billion to acquire SolarCity which it combined with its battery business to form Tesla Energy. Tesla’s stock price fell by more than 10% after the deal was announced.

A number of shareholder organisations sued Musk and the directors of Tesla alleging that the purchase of SolarCity was made entirely for Musk’s benefit and at the expense of Tesla and its shareholders.  In January 2020 the Tesla directors reached a settlement leaving Musk as the lone defendant. The court made a favourable decision for Musk two years later.

Twitter

As of June 2022 Musk had more than 100 million followers on Twitter after becoming a member in 2009. He shares memes advertises his business and offers commentary on current societal problems. When supporting the 2022 Canada convoy protest Musk once compared Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Adolf Hitler mocking preferred gender pronouns. According to the New York Times his contributions to international relations have been chaotic. Musk’s detractors contend that there is no distinction between his political views and his corporate interests.

Even as early as 2017 Elon Musk indicated interest in acquiring Twitter. Musk started buying Twitter shares in January 2022 and amassed a 5% interest in the firm by March. By April he had a 9% stake making him the company’s largest shareholder. Musk and Twitter reached an agreement on April 4 that would assign him to the board of directors and forbid him from owning more than 14.9% of the company. Elon Musk though launched a takeover attempt to purchase 100% of Twitter’s stock at $54.20 per share on April 13 with a $43 billion offer to buy the social media platform.Twitter’s board of directors responded by enacting a shareholder rights plan to make it more difficult for any one investor to own more than 15% of the business without the board’s consent. Elon Musk successfully completed his offer for about $44 billion a week later. The next day as a result of the deal Tesla’s stock market value fell by more than $125 billion resulting in Musk losing over $30 billion in net worth. 

Later he expressed objections to the decisions made by Twitter executive Vijaya Gadde. The Twitter Board of Directors answered that they were committed to holding him to the transaction after he issued notice that he was terminating the agreement in July while first clarifying that he remained committed to the acquisition.

After learning that 5% of Twitter’s daily active users were spam accounts exactly one month after announcing the acquisition Musk said the purchase was on pause and Twitter shares fell more than 10%. The Twitter Board of Directors answered that they were committed to holding him to the transaction after he issued notice that he was terminating the agreement in July while first clarifying that he remained committed to the acquisition. Twitter filed a formal lawsuit against Musk in the Delaware Chancery Court on July 12 2022 alleging that he had broken the terms of a contractual contract to buy the company. Elon Musk made a comeback in October 2022 offering to buy Twitter for $54.20 a share.

After the acquisition was finalised on October 27 Elon Musk promptly removed the CEO of Twitter Parag Agrawal. 

Controversy

The 51-year-old South African entrepreneur is now unquestionably one of the most well-known individuals on the planet and a possible genius but few people are likely to be familiar with his engineering achievements.Despite all the accolades that Musk deserves he has instead emerged as a controversial figure who appears to be more interested in memes and s**t tweets on Twitter than true research. Troll Edge Lord and Prankster have all been used to Musk in recent years and many people wouldn’t argue that despite the honours and successes he has attained in his line of work he doesn’t deserve them. We’re taking a look back at Musk’s strangest and most contentious incidents since it’s not uncommon to celebrate someone’s positive traits without also being reminded of their negative traits.

Tesla Cars S.3.X

Tesla revealed in 2017 that the three vehicles in its Model 3 series would be known as Model S Model E and Model X. Model E was renamed to Model 3 as Ford threatened legal action over the Model E name. What happens if you rearrange those letters though? Yep S.3.X. When promoting the automobiles Tesla didn’t even bother to disguise it. If you thought that was cringe-worthy wait until you find out that the acronym for his SpaceX rocket BFR that is Big F**king Rocket.

Elon Musk like a good meme but what about the time when after appearing on the Joe Rogan Podcast one of the most popular podcasts on the planet in 2018 he really became a meme? Rogan a marijuana lover gave Musk a joint to smoke while he was on the program. Elon Musk didn’t ingest any of the smoke or experience any side effects but he didn’t really seem to know what he was doing when he was smoking the bifta. His response though was priceless and went down in internet lore as a gif.

Elon Musk later admitted that he had no idea what he was doing with the joint on 60 Minutes. He said to Lesley Stahl I can be a little impulsive. I truly don’t want to try to follow a CEO model. I do not use marijuana. I have no idea how to smoke weed or anything as anyone who listened to that show can attest. The fact that he claimed to be an alien and to have boundless energy was one of the podcast’s other standout moments. 

A lot of times people get reduced to the dumbest thing they ever did Musk said in reference to the incident during his appearance on SNL. I once used marijuana on Joe Rogan’s show for example he stated. And now I always hear that Elon Musk only ever uses podcasts to smoke marijuana similar to how I smoke cigarettes while listening to podcasts. It happened once which is equivalent to calling O.J. Simpson a murderer.

The dispatch of space monsters with lasers to Ukraine

Recently Musk made light of the fact that he would deploy space dragons with lasers to Ukraine to aid in the conflict with Russian military. After The Babylon Bee a parody website posted an article claiming that Musk will send electric tanks with flamethrowers to Ukraine the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX made the remark. Elon Musk said in response to the parody: Pshaw how pedestrian! I was considering more dragons in space that have lasers.

Fighting Vladimir Putin’s

This may be the most absurd thing that Elon Musk has ever done. After challenging Vladimir Putin the president of Russia to single battle with the nation of Ukraine as the prize the billionaire recently confused the internet. After receiving praise from Ukraine for supplying the nation with internet using SpaceX’s Starlink satellites he had already played a significant part in the fight. However challenging Putin to a fight was  a little less beneficial.

Spreading rumours about Covid-19

Elon Musk has started to believe in conspiracies which was perhaps inevitable. In 2020 he was eager to discuss the coronavirus epidemic much like many tin-foil haters. He started implying that not everything regarding Covid testing was perfect on November 13th 2020. Considering that he was able to obtain various findings from four tests on the same day. Elon Musk received a lot of backlash for the post but it wasn’t the only false information he disseminated about the illness.

Zelensky criticised him as he tried to end the fighting in Ukraine.

For whatever reason Musk decided to use a Twitter poll to try and resolve the conflict in Ukraine which definitely didn’t sit well with President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Tesla CEO made a number of recommendations one of which was that the phoney referendums in the annexed regions be held once more under United Nations supervision with Russian aggressors leaving if it is the desire of the people to do so.

None other than Mr. Elon Musk is the man who financed the development and the largest revolution in automobiles and the majority of industries in the current period of the twenty-first century. Mr. Musk is the driving force behind the development of the electric vehicle.

Currently Elon Musk has the title of the richest man in the world. In other words he invested around 1/6 of his net wealth in Twitter. You should know that he owns a 21% share in Tesla but he has given up more than half of that stake as collateral for a loan.
