Indian actor Darshan Gandas also known by his stage name Darshan Kumar is known for his performances in Hindi films. He made his debut in the 2014 film Mary Kom alongside Priyanka Chopra. He rose to fame with his role as a young student from a Kashmiri Pandit family in the 2022 film The Kashmir Files.
Before his debut, he was associated with Sahej Theatre Group as a theatre actor. He worked with the theatre company for almost 5 years, during which he also had the opportunity to work with Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah. Once, we had to dress up and since I couldn’t afford nice shoes, I bought a pair from Andheri for 200-300 bucks and have been wearing them ever since. Since I didn’t have money for bus tickets, I used to walk to auditions. I would take the bus, pay the fare, and then walk to buy a packet of Parle G. I would eat biscuits and water if I could find a cup of tea, but I had to make it through the rest of the day.
On the way back from the audition, Darshan's shoes broke and he had to walk barefoot for several kilometres. He claimed, “I was walking back around 9 or 10 pm when the lower part of my sneaker broke. I was limping and unable to walk. I could not find a cobbler nearby. I walked five to seven kilometres with the sneaker in my hand.”
The actor went on to say that he often had to go to bed with an empty stomach as he had no money to eat out. He said that despite all the love Mary Kom showered him with, he still had to work hard to get good jobs and avoid stereotypes. Apart from these films, Darshan also starred in NH10 Aashram The Family Man and Sarbjit. The Kashmir Files grossed Rs 250 crore at the global box office on Sunday. The film, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, premiered in theatres on March 11 and is based on the story of the Kashmiri Pandits who lived in the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s.

In 2001, the Indian romantic drama Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai was produced by Vashu Bhagnani and directed by Satish Kaushik. Tusshar Kapoor made his debut in the film, co-starring with Kareena Kapoor. The film was officially remade from the 1998 Telugu film Tholi Prema. It was released on May 25, 2001.

Darshan Kumar Movie: Tere Naam (2003)
In 2003, Satish Kaushik released the Hindi romantic drama Tere Naam. Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla made their Hindi film debut in this film written by Bala and Jainendra Jain. It was a remake of the 1999 Tamil film Sethu starring Vikram.
The film is based on a true story and tells the story of a friend of Bala who falls in love and goes mad and ends up in a mental hospital. Tere Naam was released on August 15, 2003 and performed poorly at the box office despite the top-selling soundtrack. Khan received critical acclaim for his performance as Radhe Mohan, and many consider it his best work to date.
The role of Nirjara was initially offered to Ameesha Patel but due to scheduling issues, she could not accept it. Bhumika Chawla, who made her Bollywood debut in the film, bagged the role. Darshan Kumar Movie: Mary Kom (2014)
Directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mary Kom is a Hindi-language sports biographical film based on the life of the eponymous boxer. Starring Priyanka Chopra in the lead role and newcomers Darshan Kumar and Sunil Thapa as her husband and mentor respectively, the film chronicles Kom’s boxing career from the moment she decided to take up the sport till she won the World Boxing Championship in Ningbo in 2008.
The boxing scenes were shot in Filmistan, and principal photography began in June 2013. Mary Kom was shot in Dharamsala and Manali, where a large part of Manipur was recreated, after plans to shoot in Kom's home state of Manipur were abandoned due to security concerns.
The film was a huge success, grossing 861.9 million rupees ($11 million) at the box office. Mary Kom is one of the highest-grossing films starring an actress in India.
