American actor, director and son of actor Lloyd Bridges, Beau Bridges (born Lloyd Vernet Bridges III) has an estimated net worth of $16 million. Beau received good praise for his secondary juvenile role in The Red Pony in 1949, although he was seen mainly in minor roles during the late ’40s. This suited him just fine; with no great interest in movies, young Bridges aspired to be a basketball star. Despite being only 5’9″, he played on the UCLA basketball team and at the University of Hawaii. But upon realizing that his height would always hold him back in professional sports, Bridges returned to acting via a small role in his father’s TV series Sea Hunt. He made his stage debut in 1966 in Where’s Daddy and continued to appear in major film roles throughout the 1960s and ’70s, becoming comfortable in character roles.
