Azhar launched the Hindi version of Inshorts in April 2016 so that more people in tier-II cities could use the app. On January 10, 2020, he was appointed as a director of Inshorts India Advertising And Services Private Limited. In 2021, Inshorts received $60 million in funding. As of October 2023, the company has raised over $119 million from 8 investors in 6 rounds of funding. As of 2023, the app has been downloaded over 10 million times, making it one of the most popular and downloaded apps in India. In October 2023, IT was valued at Rs 37,000 crore.
On November 16, 2019, he became a director of Locvid Services Private Limited.
