Anuj Rawat was born on October 17, 1999, in the village of Ramnagar in Uttarakhand. Anuj’s father enrolled him in a cricket academy not far from home and he went to Rooppur (another village in Uttarakhand) for training. When he was 10 years old, his cricket coach began to recognize his potential. In order to fully support Anuj’s cricket needs, he suggested his parents to move to Delhi permanently. After moving to Delhi, he enrolled in Raj Kumar Sharma College in Paschim Vihar, West Delhi.

Anuj Rawat hails from Roopur, a small village near Ramnagar in Nainital district. There are no sports training facilities near Anuj’s hometown. Anuj was forced to enroll in a small college in Ramnagar, 5 miles from the village, as there were no cricket institutions nearby. Despite the low income from agriculture, the Rawat family struggled to keep Anuj in training. Part of the funds were transferred to Anuj Rawat to maintain the facilities he needed.
