Amit Mishra’s father Devendra Prasad Mishra is a businessman and mother Geeta Mishra is a homemaker. Amit graduated from Lucknow University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and studied music from Bhatkhande Music College in Lucknow. Amit was also a member of the band TRISHNA in Lucknow. Amit along with his band got an opportunity to perform on Idea Rocks India 2009 which was aired on Colours, Amit was the lead singer of the band. They were one of the top four bands of the season.

When he first started at Lucknow University, he was bullied by some senior girls. They asked him to measure the length of the classroom with a coin, but he refused. The girls asked him what he could do, so the singer sang Kailash Kher’s Teri Dewani and was saved.
Whenever Mishra had free lectures, he and his group of 12 to 15 boys would eat ‘chole-samosa’ and ‘khullad wali chai’ in the college canteen.
There was a restaurant in Gomti Nagar where Mishra would eat with his family whenever he returned home.
Mishra got the much-awaited fame with the song “Bulleya” from the film “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, directed by Karan Johar and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.
