Indian actor and theater performer Yashpal Sharma works in both Hindi and Punjabi films. Apart from Lagaan (2001) Gangaajal (2003) Ab Tak Chhappan (2004) Apaharan (2005) Lakshyam (2007) Singh Is Kinng (2008) Aarakshan (2011) and Rowdy Rathore his most well-known performance was as Randhir Singh in Sudhir Mishra’s 2003 Hindi film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2012).

Yashpal Sharma Movie Lagaan (2001)

Ashutosh Gowariker wrote and directed this sports drama movie. Aamir Khan who acts in the movie along with debutante Gracy Singh and British actresses Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne produced it. An arrogant British Indian Army officer challenges a Central Indian village’s residents to a game of cricket as a bet to avoid paying the taxes they owe. 

The film is set in 1893 during the late Victorian era of India’s colonial British Raj. The residents are burdened by high taxes and several years of drought. The villagers must laboriously learn a game that is foreign to them and compete to win. 

Lagaan received various awards and was shown at many international film festivals. After Mother India (1957) and Salaam Bombay it was the third Indian movie to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film! (1988). 

With eight victories at the 47th Filmfare Awards including Best Film Best Director for Gowariker and Best Actor for Khan Lagaan became the movie with the most honors. The movie took home eight honors at the 49th National Film Awards including Best Popular Film.

Yashpal Sharma Movie Apaharan (2005)

Ajay Devgn Bipasha Basu and Nana Patekar play the main characters in Prakash Jha’s 2005 Indian Hindi-language crime action thriller Apaharan. It tells the tale of a father and son who have a complicated relationship and divergent views against the backdrop of the abduction trade in India’s eastern province of Bihar. In India Apaharan’s box office performance was deemed a semi-hit.

Anees Bazmee and Suresh Nair wrote the screenplay for the 2008 Indian action comedy film Singh Is Kinng which was directed by Bazmee. In addition the movie received a nomination for Best Actor at the 54th Filmfare Awards and won Best Female Playback Singer (Shreya Ghoshal for Teri Ore) as well (Kumar).

Anup Jalota a ghazal singer and Kush Bhargava produced Monica a 2011 Bollywood film starring Divya Dutta Ashutosh Rana and Rajit Kapur. Sushen Bhatnagar is the film’s director and it draws inspiration from actual events including the murder of Shivani Bhatnagar and the 2G spectrum case.

The story of ambitious woman Monica Jaitley played by Divya Dutta who will stop at nothing to succeed is told in the movie. Prabhu Deva served as the director and Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala served as the producers under the UTV Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions labels. The movie a remake of the 2006 Telugu film Vikramarkudu stars Akshay Kumar in dual roles as a courageous police officer and a thief. It is based on a narrative written by V. Vijayendra Prasad. Along with Nassar as the main antagonist the movie also stars Sonakshi Sinha Gurdeep Kohli Yashpal Sharma and Paresh Ganatra in minor roles.

It received mixed reviews when it debuted from the critics but went on to become a worldwide and domestic box office smash. At the end of its run positive word-of-mouth had assisted in raising its distributor share to 740 million rupees (US$9.3 million) in India. 

It became one of the highest-grossing films ever on the Mumbai circuit earning 515.5 million rupees (US$6.5 million) in just seven weeks. One of the highest-grossing Indian movies the movie made over 281.39 crores (US$35 million).

Anil Sharma’s film was directed. The main characters in the movie are played by Sunny Deol Urvashi Rautela Amrita Rao and Prakash Raj. After a long absence Sunny Deol returns to the action genre in this movie. In addition Deol and Sharma collaborated once more in Ek Prem Katha following Gadar. The story of a man who decides to reform a man who destroyed his life is told in the movie.

Yashpal Sharma Movie Tubelight (2017)

The 2017 Hindi-language military drama movie Tubelight was written and directed by Kabir Khan. It is based on the 1962 Sino-Indian War and was produced by Salman Khan and Kabir Khan. It features Zhu Zhu (making her Bollywood film debut) Matin Rey Tangu Om Puri and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in supporting roles in addition to Salman Khan and Sohail Khan in the lead roles. 

The movie has a cameo from Shah Rukh Khan. The music for the movie was composed by Pritam and Julius Packiam the latter of whom wrote the songs and the former the film soundtrack. The movie is a remake of Little Boy an American film from 2015.

The movie premiered on June 23 2017. Despite having a budget of 100 crores the movie made an estimated 211.14 crore and earned generally unfavourable reviews from reviewers.

An Indian television program called Mera Naam Karegi Roshan which airs on Zee TV tells the tale of a daughter’s fight against unfairness and injustice. The show had its premiere on July 12 2010 but on November 26 2010 it was revealed that Mera Namm Karegi Roshan had been canceled due to poor viewership. On December 9 2010 the final episode aired.
