Virender Sehwag is a former Indian cricketer. Virender Sehwag was born in Haryana.
He represented India from 1999 to 2013. In Indian domestic cricket, he represented Delhi and Haryana. He spent his entire career as an attacking opener. Widely regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen of all time, Sehwag is a right-handed power opener who also occasionally bowls right-arm spin.
Sehwag holds several records, including the highest score by an Indian Test match player (319 against South Africa at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai), the fastest triple hundred in the history of international cricket (300 in 278 balls) and the fastest 250 by any batsman.
On October 20, 2015, Sehwag announced his retirement from all international cricket. He currently works for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India as a member of the Anti-Doping Appeal Committee of the National Anti-Doping Agency.
Virender Sehwag was born on 20 October 1978. Virender Sehwag's date of birth is 20 October 1978. Virender Sehwag's full name is Virender Sehwag. As of 2022, Virender Sehwag's age is 44 years old.
Virender Sehwag is a member of a Jat family and a grain merchant. He grew up in a large family with siblings, aunts, uncles and 16 cousins. The Sehwag family is from Haryana, but they currently live in New Delhi. Sehwag is the third of four children born to Krishna Sehwag and Krishan Sehwag; his siblings include Vinod, a younger brother, and two older sisters, Manju and Anju. According to his father, his interest in cricket was sparked by a toy bat he received when he was seven months old. He attended the Arora Vidya School in Delhi and begged his parents to let him play cricket as he was not good in academics.
Early in his career, he was known as an aggressive batsman and Amar Nath Sharma was his coach. In 1990, as a child, Sehwag broke a tooth and his father tried to stop him from playing, but Sehwag managed to circumvent the ban with the help of his mother. Later, he graduated from Jamia Milia Islamia.
In April 2004, Virender Sehwag married Aarti Alawat in a wedding held at the home of then Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley, which attracted widespread attention. The couple has two sons, Ariyavir, born on October 18, 2007, and Vedant, born in 2010.
Sehwag International School was founded by Sehwag in Jhajjar, Haryana, 65 km west of Delhi in 2011. His mother officially founded the school, while his father's vision was to create a place where children could learn, train and play sports.
After his second tercentenary, the Haryana government gave Sehwag a 23-acre plot of land to build a college on, but Sehwag refused, preferring to open a school and fulfill his father's wish. On 21 January 2017, Sehwag appeared as a guest on Indian Idol and claimed that in the past two years, 22 students from his school had participated in national and state teams in various sports.
Virender Sehwag has built an illustrious career on the strength of his gift for hitting boundaries and his relentless pursuit of the ball. He has amassed Test runs at a faster rate than anyone in cricket history, while using almost no footwork but all by will. A batsman using so much of his stroke must be a dream goal for bowlers; however, Sehwag was more confident of his chances. Like many kids his age, Sehwag was a starry-eyed youngster from Najafgarh, where his family owned a flour mill, and who wanted to be Sachin Tendulkar from a young age.
Sehwag has eloquently revolutionized the batting manual and he is probably the most important player since 2000. This was particularly evident during India's two crucial Test tours of 2003/04 against Pakistan and Australia, where he scored huge runs and helped his team to a win and a draw respectively. There is an opener who challenges the bowlers immediately. Sannat Jayasuriya had demonstrated this in his previous ODI matches, but in the Test matches, Sehwag overturned all previous theories about batting.
Eventually, Sehwag scored a total of six double hundreds, the most by an Indian player, including two triple hundreds. It is safe to say that no other batsman has led India to more Test wins than Sehwag during that era. His double hundred against Ajantha Mendis and Muttiah Muralitharan in Galle, Sri Lanka in 2008 stands out among his many outstanding knocks. While Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman had a hard time dealing with them throughout the series, Sehwag handled them like normal bowlers. He had little trouble dealing with off-spinners.
A member of the 2007 World T20 Championship and 2011 World Cup winning team, Virender Sehwag performed his duties brilliantly by scoring a hundred on his Test debut in 2001 in South Africa. In 2015, the Nawab of Najafgarh resigned from his duties as a cricketer of international cricket and started commentating on the sport. Fans loved Virender Sehwag's new role for his humorous commentary. In the 2017 Indian T20 League, he was selected as the Director (Cricket Operations) of Punjab.

Sehwag was embroiled in controversy during the second Test match between South Africa and India at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth in November 2001, when International Cricket Council umpire Mike Denness imposed a one-Test ban on Sehwag for his excessive appeals. Six Indian players were banned, four of whom, including Sehwag, were suspended. The severity of the ban sparked a political, legal and administrative crisis around the world, with the Indian cricket body threatening to cancel the tour if Mike Denness was not sacked as umpire for the third Test match.
On the first day of the match, Mike Dennis was not allowed to enter the stadium as the International Cricket Council (ICC) supported him while the South African Cricket Board supported the Indian cricket body. The ICC scheduled the match as a five-day informal friendly, with South Africa winning the first match 1-0 and becoming the series winner. India's selection of Sehwag in the Test squad jeopardized the subsequent Indian tour of England. Following the development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a warning that any cricket match involving Sehwag would not be considered an official Test match until Sehwag was suspended for one match.
After discussions with the England Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council, and for cricketing reasons, Sehwag was left out of the first Test match against England. In October 2015, Sehwag told Zee News, I had planned to retire when I was dropped from the team in 2007, but…!
Mr. Virender Sehwag has a net worth of over $40 million which is equivalent to INR 28.6 crores. He has accumulated this huge wealth through his BCCI IPL contracts and income from private businesses.
