Dangal 2016 Hindi-language biographical sports drama film produced by Aamir Khan Kiran Rao and Siddharth Roy Kapur directed by Nitesh Tiwari and distributed by The Walt Disney Company India. Khan plays Mahavir Singh Phogat in the movie a pehlwani amateur wrestler who develops Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari into India’s first elite female wrestlers.

The 2018 Hindi-language comedic drama film Mohalla Assi which stars Sunny Deol and Sakshi Tanwar was written and directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. 

The movie is partially based on the well-known Hindi novel Kashi Ka Assi by Dr. Kashi Nath Singh a parody of the commercialization of pilgrimage cities and bogus gurus who entice Western tourists.
