Rasika Dugal is an Indian actress. She is known for her roles in many Indian films and television shows.
She made her screen debut with a small role in the film Anwar (2007). She went on to star in many critically acclaimed films.
Rasika rose to fame in 2018 with her role in the Amazon Prime Video original series Mirzapur, for which she was nominated for the Indian Television Academy Award for Best Actress in a Web Series. She has since received critical acclaim for several web series, including Made in Heaven (2019), Delhi Crime (2019), Out of Love (2019-2021), A Suitable Boy (2020) and OK Computer (2021). In 2020, she co-wrote a short film titled Banana Bread with her husband (Mukul Chadha). She also produced a comedy podcast Uncovidable (2020), created by Vekeana Dhillon. Rasika Dugal was born in Circuit House Area, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to Jessie Dugal and Raveen Dugal. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi in 2004. Dugal then joined Sophia Polytechnic for her Postgraduate Diploma in Social Communication Media and FTII for her Postgraduate Diploma in Acting.
In 2010, Rasika Dugal married actor Mukul Chadha after dating for 3 years. Mukul Chadha is also a well-known actor in the film industry. They fell in love during the shooting of the film. They dated for 3 years and later got married.
She also acted in TV series such as Dariba Dairies (2015) as Zeenat Bano and POW- Bandi Yuddh Ke (2016) as Shobha Thakur. She then hosted the show Devlok with Devdutt Pattanaik in 2016. She also acted in The Viral Fever web shows such as Permanent Roommates (2016), Humorously Yours (2016-2019) and TVF Couples (2017).
Then in 2018, she was seen in Zoya Akhtar’s segment in Netflix anthology film Lust Stories. She then acted in Nandita Das’ biopic Manto (2018). The film revolves around the life of playwright Saadat Hasan Manto, with Rasika playing the role of his wife Safia. Her performance was praised by critics and earned her her first nomination for the Screen Awards for Best Supporting Actress. After Manto, she acted in the critically acclaimed film Hamid (2018), directed by Aijaz Khan, co-starring Vikas Kumar and Talha Arshad Reshi. The film received many honors, including the 66th National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Urdu, and Rasika Dugal won the Rajasthan International Film Festival Award for Best Actor for her role in the film Hamid. Rasika at a special screening in Mirzapur in 2018. Rasika has been roped in for the international comedy audio series Empire, created by Anuvab Pal. She will next be seen in Srijit Mukherji’s Sherdil, which also stars Neeraj Kabi and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles.
