“Shweshwe fabric has been incorporated into many different cultural activities in South Africa. It is commonly used in traditional ceremonies, weddings and celebrations of many different ethnic groups.

“Its versatility and vibrant patterns also make it popular in contemporary fashion and design. This is why we, NN Vintage, decided to use this shweshwe fabric/pattern for our latest designs that we will be launching next summer.”

“The swimwear that has been on the market for years has not incorporated the African look and feel and so as NN Vintage we wanted to bring in bright colours that represent the vibrancy of the African continent. As Africans we are known to be bold, loud and proud and that is what inspired the bright colours.

“As NN Vintage, we believe that we don't incorporate shweshwe into our style but shweshwe is our essence as Africans and therefore by incorporating our designs, we are just expressing ourselves in the best way we know how.”
