The world’s largest provider of technology services is Infosys Ltd. (INFY). On Wednesday, Infosys agreed to pay $34 million to end a U.S. investigation into a common practice by Indian companies of using temporary visas to send employees to U.S. clients. About 15,000 employees work for Infosys in the U.S.
Of those, about 10,800 have H-1B visas, which allow workers to stay and work in the U.S. for up to six years, and 1,600 have temporary L-1 visas, according to company filings as of March 31.
