For her performance in Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam Meera Jasmine received the National Film Award for Best Actress in 2004. She has also won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress. She also received the Tamil Nadu government’s Kalaimamani Award.

Meera Jasmine’s husband is Anil John Titus. He is an Engineer in Dubai.  News of a certain Meera Jasmine wedding scheduled for February 2014 first circulated in late 2013. 

There wasn’t much information at first but Meera-related sources eventually revealed that this marriage was arranged. Anil John Titus a software developer living in Dubai who is originally from Kerala was the bridegroom. 

Meera Jasmine’s Marriage

According to rumours Meera’s parents had been searching for a good husband for their daughter for a while when they came across Anil’s profile on a matrimonial website. The parents approved the marriage after receiving Meera’s assent and the Meera Jasmine wedding took place on February 12 2014 according to Christian customs at Thiruvananthapuram’s Palayam LMS Church. 

The following evening the couple hosted a reception to which only their closest friends were invited. Some claim that Meera only invited a small group of movie business professionals and many well-known names were simply excluded.

There was a small scandal of its own during the marriage of Anil Titus and Meera Jasmine. Numerous police officers were visibly present both inside and outside the wedding location as well as during the wedding reception as reported by the media and a few guests. 

Even though Meera’s famous status is well known to all it did not warrant the police’s strong security. Two months after the wedding local newspapers claimed that Meera and Anil were having issues registering their marriage which provided the solution to this doubt. Evidently Anil was set to marry a different Keralan woman and had made his intentions clear.

He had a change of heart when he received Meera’s family’s marriage proposal at the very last second. As a result the family of the left girl made threats to interfere with Anil’s wedding which prompted the couple to ask for police protection for the wedding of Anil Titus and Meera Jasmine.

Meera Jasmine’s Boyfriend Lohithadas

Meera Jasmine’s Boyfriend was Lohithadas. Following the release of her maiden movie under the direction of well-known Malayalam director Lohithadas rumours of a romance between the two began to circulate. It was a rumour that the tabloids paid less attention to because Meera was a rookie at the time. 

When asked about his relationship with Meera in 2005 Lohithadas immediately denied it. He also claimed that after learning about it he was deeply bothered by it which had an effect on his ability to be creative. On the other hand Meera consistently claimed that Lohithadas was her mentor proving that the romantic relationship was a complete lie.

Meera Jasmine’s Boyfriend Aryadan

Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam was Meera’s tenth film which she signed in 2002. The film which dealt with societal themes was well received by critics when it was first released. Meera’s riveting performance in the movie was praised by both the critics and the audience and she was hailed as the upcoming star. 

Along with numerous other honours from the state government Meera received a National Award for the movie. Later it was discovered that Aryadan Shoukath the son of a politician with roots in Kerala produced the film. The tabloids went into rumor-making overdrive and said that Meera Jasmine was dating Aryadan Shoukath and that he had influenced and directed her to win the multiple prizes for the movie. 

Meera Jasmine’s Boyfriend Uppalapu

According to rumors Meera became close friends with Uppalapu Rajesh the famous Indian mandolin player Uppalapu Srinivas’ younger brother sometime about 2006. Although it is unknown how or where they first met it is said that they began dating soon after. Beginning in 2007 tabloids began publishing stories about Rajesh and Meera’s live-in romance. Although nothing was known about their alleged live-in relationship the couple was open and honest when discussing it. It wasn’t until late July 2009 that everyone received a clear response. Rajesh revealed that he and Meera had ended their romance and were no longer together. He continued by saying that he had a dream but it had failed leaving him with unpleasant memories.

Meera Jasmine’s first Movie Soothradharan (2001)

A. K. Lohithadas wrote and directed the 2001 Indian Malayalam film Soothradharan. Dileep and Meera Jasmine play the lead characters in the movie and other notable actors include Bindu Panicker Kalabhavan Mani and Cochin Haneefa. The soundtrack to the film was composed by Raveendran Master. Actress Meera Jasmine made her cinematic debut with this movie.

When Ramesan (Dileep) who helps maintain the five-person family by selling pickles and other foods travels to the border town of Pandavapuram he finds the surroundings to be incredibly desolate and harsh. The director reflects on the struggles people in Pandavapuram face. Ramesan is searching fruitlessly for his friend Leelakrishnan (Salim Kumar) who makes a meager life as a hijada.

Meera Jasmine’s Movie Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam (2003)

The 2003 Indian Malayalam film Padam Onnu: Oru Vilapam was written and directed by T. V. Chandran. Meera Jasmine plays the principal character of Shahina in the movie for which she received the National Film Award for Best Actress and Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress in 2003.

Shahina a student in the tenth grade is married off by her family to an already-married man named Rasaq. Rasaq divorces Shahina after receiving the money from her parents.

Meera Jasmine’s Movie Ore Kadal (2007)

Shyamaprasad wrote and directed the 2007 Malayalam movie Ore Kadal. An intellectual economist and a housewife’s extramarital relationship is the subject of the movie. Mammootty Meera Jasmine Narain and Ramya Krishnan are the main actors.

At the International Film Festival of India Ore Kadal was picked as the opening film of the Indian Panorama category. For Ore Kadal Ouseppachan won the National Award for Best Music Director.

Meera Jasmine’s Controversy

Meera Jasmine’s Temple

She performed prayers in 2006 at the Taliparamba Rajarajeshwara Temple in Kerala which is closed to non-Hindus. This provoked a debate and a demonstration by Hindu believers. Later she was required to pay the temple officials 10 000 (US$130) as a fine in order to do the purification rites. 

Meera Jasmine Ban

She was given an informal ban by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) in 2008 when she declined to participate in the filming of Twenty:20 which actor Dileep was distributing on behalf of AMMA.

However Meera claimed that she was unaware of the prohibition and that she was still working on Malayalam movie projects.
