A man named Mama Shinde, who worked at Dadasaheb Phalke’s Nasik Cinetone, approached Leela Mishra. He convinced her husband to get her a role in a film. When the Mishras went to Nasik for the shoot, it was clear from their salaries that there was a severe shortage of actresses in films at the time. Ram Prasad Mishra was hired for a monthly salary of Rs 150, while Leela Mishra was offered a monthly salary of Rs 500. However, due to their poor performance in front of the camera, their contracts were terminated.

The next opportunity was a job in the film Bhikarin, produced by a company owned by the Maharaja of Kolhapur. However, Leela Mishra could not avail the opportunity as the film required her to hug the actor (not her husband) while speaking, which she flatly refused.

She faced a similar problem while shooting for another film called Honhaar. She was cast opposite Shahu Modak as the female lead and was asked to hug him, but she again categorically refused. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise for her as the company could not remove her from the film as they were in a precarious legal position. She was offered the role of Modak’s mother in the film and she instantly felt comfortable with it. Due to this, she was able to play the role of a mother at the age of 18.

Nadiya Ke Paar is a 1982 Indian drama film directed by Govind Moonis and based on Keshav Prasad Mishra’s novel Kohbar Ki Shart (the first half of the novel). The film stars Sachin, Sadhana Singh, Inder Thakur, Mitali, Savita Bajaj, Sheela David, Leela Mishra and Soni Rat.

The film was mainly set in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and the major scenes were shot in Bijaipur village in Jaunpur district. The film was one of the highest-grossing films of 1982 and one of the first films released by Rajshri Productions on 1 January 1982. Rajshri later adapted the film into Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! in 1994.
