But Deepti had no idea that these things would lead her to a path of success she never imagined. Deepti Sharma was asked to throw the ball back into the court while her brother and teammates were attending a tennis training session at the Ekalavya Stadium in Agra. On a direct throw from 50 meters, the ball hit the goalpost. Hemrata Kala, who was the Indian women’s national team selector at the time, saw this and it marked a pivotal moment in Deepti’s life.

At 15, Deepti Sharma had enough experience, but the selectors never picked her for the state team. But Kala made sure she got enough practice, taking her to railway camps in Delhi and Allahabad. Several other selectors began to notice her versatility, and former India batsman and selector Rita Dey agreed to train her. According to the laws of cricket, sending a batsman out is perfectly legal, although it is uncommon. Dean was said to have started the match 72 overs earlier before Deepti Sharma used this particular method of dismissal.
