Debra Frances, better known as Camryn Manheim, is an American actress. She is best known for her role as lawyer Eleanor Fruter in The Practice. In 1999, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for “The Practice” (1997).

Kamryn Manheim was born into a Jewish family, the daughter of teachers Sylvia Manheim and Jerome Manheim. Her family moved several times during her childhood as her father took a new teaching position. She also played Sam Barton in the 2014 science fiction television series Extant, alongside Halle Berry and Hiroyuki Sanada.

When Camryn was in sixth grade, her family moved to Southern California, where she attended Woodrow Wilson Classical High School. She became interested in acting after working at a Renaissance fair during high school. In 1984, she graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a BFA. In 1987, she received her MFA from the Graduate Performance Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her brother, Carl Manheim, is a legal educator at Loyola Law School.

Camryn Manheim also won the National Board of Review Award for Best Actor for the 1998 American black comedy film “Happiness”. She currently stars as Debbie in the sixth and final season of This Is Us, which premiered on January 4, 2022.
