Audrey Landers is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her roles as Afton Cooper in the television series Dallas (TV, 1978) and as Val Clark in the film version of A Chorus Line (1985).

Profession

Audrey Landers began her acting career at age 9, starring in her first community theater musical. Landers continues to act and sing in community theaters across New York State. In 1970, she performed “Oh Daddy, Poor Daddy…” at the Elmwood Theater in Nyack, New York. She first came to attention when she wrote and performed a country song at the age of twelve, which led to her signing a Nashville recording contract with Epic Records. Performed on The Merv Griffin Show (1962) and had a year-long role on the daytime drama The Secret Storm (1954).

As a teenager, she starred in the daytime drama Somerset in 1970 and studied music at the Juilliard School in New York and psychology at Columbia University. She made her feature film debut in “The Tennessee Stallion” (1978), starring Don Hulette and her sister Judy Landers.

Audrey Landers moved to Los Angeles. She also played Afton Cooper in the television movie Dallas: The Return of JR (1996). In the show, her character is a nightclub singer. As a singer, she had recorded two singles in the 1970s. But while in Dallas, she recorded her first album, Little River (1983). She has since released a dozen albums, notably for European labels.

After she left Dallas in 1984, director Richard Attenborough cast her as Val Clarke in the film version of A Chorus Line (1985). In 2013, she reprized the role of Afton Cooper in several episodes of the second season of Dallas Renaissance.
