dispute

Money Laundering (March 2022)

BharatPe co-founder and managing director Ashneer Grover resigned from the fintech startup with immediate effect on Monday, February 28, 2022. Grover said that despite resigning as managing director and board director of BharatPe, he will continue to serve as the “largest individual shareholder of the company.”

After BharatPe fired his wife Madhuri Jain Grover for alleged misappropriation of company funds, the company’s head of controls, Grover, suddenly resigned. In addition, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) rejected Grover’s request for the company to investigate him.

Grover said in his resignation letter that since the beginning of 2022, unfortunately, I and my family have been subjected to unfounded and targeted attacks by some individuals who are willing to harm not only me and my reputation, but also the reputation of the company they are ostensibly trying to protect.

Threatening Kotak Bank employees (January 2022)

In the first week of January 2022, Bongu Babu released an audio sample and a SoundCloud link. Ashneer was allegedly threatening a Kotak Bank employee over the phone. He was disappointed when he was denied a role in Nykaa’s IPO.

However, Ashnil believes that the tape is fake. He claims that the threats were made to extort money. Grover commented on the video on his Twitter account and wrote “Guys… calm down. This is a fake recording of a scammer trying to collect 240,000 Bitcoin donations and I stand by my position.”

Insult Ankur Warikoo

Recently, during a discussion, a student from the Ghaziabad Institute of Management and Technology remarked: “Most entrepreneurs today have become influencers. I see a lot of similarities between you and Ankur Warikoo. Are businesses starting to think that fame is important?” To this, Mr. Grover said he had never been told anything more offensive and he had only one rule: never use his name and Mr. Warikoo’s name in the same sentence.

He went on to add that he felt so angry that he even considered standing up and leaving. He told the students that he would rather be scolded than be compared to Ankur Warikoo. Grover joked that after listening carefully to the students’ questions, the comparison made him feel angry. He said that he had never been told anything more offensive than this.

The 40-year-old businessman went on to say that he felt insulted and just wanted to stand up and leave. I felt offended and just wanted to stand up and leave. You can’t put his name and my name in the same sentence. I have only one rule: say whatever you want to me. You can insult my mother and siblings with no punishment. But don’t put me in the same category as Ankur Warikoo.
