Early Life and Childhood

Ajay and Atul were born to Ashok Gogavale, an employee of the Revenue Department in Alandi, Pune. As children, they lived in different villages in western Maharashtra, like Rajgurunagar, Junnar, Shirur, Manchar, and Ghodegaon, because their father’s job moved him around. The older of the two brothers, Atul, was born on September 11, 1974, and the younger, Ajay, was born on August 21, 1976.

They were not very interested in school when they were young. But while they were still in school, they became more interested in music. Around this time, they began to try out different kinds of music. At an NCC competition, Ajay played a piece that had already been written in a different way, which won them the prize. This event made them want to try out their musical skills.

They didn’t know anything about music. Even though their family didn’t give them money for music, they were never turned down for help. Since their families couldn’t afford the instruments they needed, they started playing music at school, in temples, with local bands, etc. Even though they didn’t get training directly, they learned a lot from these projects. Since they couldn’t buy instruments like harmoniums, mridangam, dhol, etc. on their own, they made friends with people who had them. Later, when they were in college, they began to work as arrangers for local bands. Their mother asked their father to buy them a keyboard, which he did. This turned out to be one of the best gifts they ever gave. Their father told them, “You haven’t had any toys as a child. This is your first one.” This made them want to try new things, so they did.

Education

Ajay and Atul completed their early schooling in Shirur, Pune. During their childhood, they did not show much interest in academics, but their passion for music began to blossom while they were still in school. It was during this time that they started experimenting with music and exploring their creative abilities. One notable incident that sparked their musical journey was when Ajay played an existing composition in a unique and innovative way during an NCC competition. Their experiment was well-received, and they won the prize, which served as a significant inspiration for them to delve deeper into their musical potential.

After completing their studies, Atul, along with his younger brother Ajay, made the decision to shift to Mumbai, a city known for its vibrant entertainment industry. In Mumbai, they embarked on their musical journey by working on jingles, composing songs for television shows, and creating small albums. This period allowed them to gain valuable experience and exposure in the music industry. Their dedication and hard work gradually led them to establish themselves as talented music composers in the competitive world of Mumbai’s entertainment scene.

Family

Ashok Gogavale, an employee of the Revenue Department in Alandi, Pune, gave birth to twins Ajay and Atul. Due to their father’s transferrable employment, they spent their early years in a number of villages in western Maharashtra, including Rajgurunagar, Junnar, Shirur, Manchar, and Ghodegaon. The older brother, Atul, was born on September 11th, 1974, and the younger brother, Ajay, was born on August 21st, 1976.They had no prior musical training. Despite not receiving direct support from their family for music, they were never turned down for help. They began their musical endeavours through their school, temples, neighbourhood bands, etc. because their family could not afford the instruments for them. They didn’t receive any formal instruction, yet they nonetheless gained a lot from these experiences.

Since they couldn’t afford to buy instruments like harmoniums, mridangams, dhols, etc. on their own, they would make friends with others who did. Later, while still in college, they began serving as arrangers for nearby bands. At their mother’s request, their father got them a keyboard. This turned out to be one of their most valuable presents. Your father gave you no toys when you were a child; now this is your toy, he said. They were motivated by this and began to experiment.

Wife

Atul Gogavale, one-half of the famous music composer duo Ajay-Atul, got married to Poonam Gogavale. Poonam Gogavale is Atul’s wife and they share a loving and supportive relationship. Although there might not be extensive public information available about their personal life, their bond as a couple is known to their close friends, family, and well-wishers.

As private individuals, Atul and Poonam have kept their personal life away from the limelight, focusing more on their respective careers and their collaborative work in the music industry. They have together navigated the ups and downs of life, providing each other with support and strength.

While Atul Gogavale is celebrated for his exceptional musical talents, Poonam Gogavale’s contributions to Atul’s success might be behind the scenes. As a supportive spouse, she likely plays an integral role in Atul’s personal and professional life, providing him with love, encouragement, and stability.

Ajay Gogavale is also married, and it is said that he and his wife have a child together. Unfortunately, there is no more information available about Ajay Gogavale’s wife.

Play

The extremely energetic dance number Zingaat from the Marathi film Sairat (2016) had the entire country dancing to its beats. The song is played everywhere, from festivals to birthday parties to social events. Not only in Maharashtra but also in other states, it was a popular song. It quickly became everyone’s favorite song because of its catchy lyrics and lively music. After Sairat, the movie’s music composers, Ajay and Atul, were asked by other directors to make a song like the hit number from Sairat. The Hindi version of the movie Dhadak, which stars Janhvi and Ishaan and is directed by Shashank Khaitan, uses the song again.

This is a first for an Indian movie: the music was recorded at Sony Scoring Stage in Hollywood, California. Mark Graham led the orchestra, which had 66 musicians. The orchestra had 45 string players, 6 woodwind players, 13 brass players, 6 horn players, and 1 harp.  The song didn’t have a choreographer in charge of it. They were told to dance like they would when such a lively song came on. They danced and worked together as a group.

Chikni Chameli

Chikni Chameli is well-known for more than one reason. The song was written by the Marathi music duo Ajay-Atul, who also wrote the music for the movie Singham. Chikni Chameli was first made into a hit Marathi song called Kombadi Palali by the same composers, Ajay and Atul. It was turned into a song called Chikni Chameli, sung by Shreya Ghoshal, and it sounds like a big hit. It has a lot of energy, is catchy, and has a lyrical hook, which are all things that make a song a big hit in Bollywood. The song has its own style, and Katrina changes her image as an “it girl.” She broke out of her usual routine and tried something new.

Apsara Aali

PlayThis song from the movie Natarang is a Shringari lavani, which, as the name suggests, is a sensual and provocative type of music. Even though this song’s rhythm and lyrics don’t fit the typical Lavani style, it is a great example of a sensual Lavani. Bela Shende was the singer of the song Apsara Aali from the movie Natarang. It’s a great fit for a nautanki song. This dance scene from the movie was a big hit because it had great music and beautiful dancing. Sonalee Kulkarni’s Adakari is a beautiful way to show off this Lavani. Lavani comes from the word Lavanya, which means beautiful. This type of music and dance is thought to have come from Maharashtra and is still very popular today. It’s a very important part of Marathi folk theatre. It is a beautiful song written by Guru Thakur and made by Ajay-Atul. The audience loved the whole album and thought it was great. Bela Shende and Ajay-Atul sing it. Vijay Chavan played the dholki, which is an important part of the lavani, so well that it deserves special attention here. Yes, it makes you want to get up and show off your own moves.

Ajay Gogavale, one half of the Ajay-Atul duo, lends his powerful and soulful voice to this devotional son.

Deva Shree Ganesha is a prayer song with a lot of energy. It starts with bells of different pitches that blend together, and then percussion instruments are added. The whole song sounds like it was made for Mumbai Ganesh Visarjan and is sure to be a pandal hit! One of the composers, Ajay Gogavale, is the one who sings the songs.
